HISTORY

May 1954 Wako Bussan Co., Ltd. was established by pioneers in the field of “Rare Earths” to develop a market for rare earth products in Japan.
1956 Wako Bussan concluded a long term agreement with Indian Rare Earths Limited to exclusively supply their rare earth products to Southeast Asian countries and Japan. Indian Rare Earths Ltd. is the largest supplier of rare earth chloride in the world, and the agreement with them has brought a stable supply of large quantity of rare earth material, contributing to the development of the Japanese rare earth industry.
1967 Nikko Trading Co., Ltd. was established as a subsidiary of Wako Bussan, under special agreement with Toshiba Ceramics Co., Ltd. (now Tokai Ceramics Co., Ltd.) to deal in monolithic refractories,
In the last half a century, having made acquaintance of various industries abroad through the rare earth business, Wako’s business activities have expanded to the field of Chemicals, Ceramics, Metallurgy, Machinery, Optics, and Electronics.
Recently, we have concentrated on sapphire substrates for LEDs. In addition, we have also been handling lead-frames used for high power LEDs and concerned materials.
Novvember 2008 All the stocks of Wako Bussan Co.,Ltd. were transfered to Toyota Tsusho Corporation, and Wako Bussan wholly owned subsidiary.
April 2009 Wako Bussan changed the company name to Toyotsu Rare Earths Corporation.
